About Us

Meet Dr. Aaron Wallender, DDS, MD

Dr. Aaron C. Wallender is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in pediatric cleft and craniofacial surgery. 

Dr. Wallender received his doctorate in dental surgery at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO. There he received the Golden Forceps award for performing the most oral surgery procedures in his class. Dr. Wallender then continued his education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY where he underwent 6 years of residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Wallender also graduated with his medical degree with honors at the University of Kentucky.

Then Dr. Wallender went on to fellowship training in pediatric cleft and craniofacial surgery at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Wallender then moved to Pensacola in 2015 to provide his services to the gulf coast community. 

After arriving in Pensacola, Dr. Wallender helped build the regional cleft and craniofacial multidisciplinary team that is approved by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. He is currently the medical director of the team which meets at the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart. This team is composed of multiple providers including cleft and craniofacial surgery, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, audiology, speech and language pathology, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, nursing and social work. This comprehensive team provides collaborative care to meet the complex needs of children born with facial deformities. 

Dr. Wallender also serves as the cleft and craniofacial surgeon at the Children’s Rehab Services of Alabama Cleft and Craniofacial team in Mobile, AL. 

Dr. Wallender is a Fellow with the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons and a diplomat with the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, the Florida Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, and the Alabama Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.  He recently served as president of the Florida Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.

Dr. Wallender has multiple publications in various journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the Atlas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America. 

Dr. Wallender has served on the medical mission field serving children with cleft and craniofacial deformities in multiple underserved nations including Guatemala, Honduras, Vietnam, and the Philippines. 

Dr. Wallender is blessed to have a wonderful wife and two children. They love to serve and fellowship with the family of God through their local and global church community. Dr. Wallender really enjoys spending time with his family in God’s creation through multiple outdoor activities such as mountain biking, water/snow skiing, hiking, backpacking, and fishing.
